The Office of Navajo Government Development (ONGD) designed, conducted, and analyzed a comprehensive survey to better understand how Navajo citizens envision the future of Navajo Nation governance. Diné Local Governance Summit Report Summary, 2023

The Diné Local Governance Summit, held on September 14, 2023, brought together 162 participants from across the Navajo Nation to discuss the future of local governance and the ongoing Navajo Government Reform Project. Organized by the Office and Commission on Navajo Government Development (ONGD/CNGD), the summit provided historical context on Navajo governance, explored the attributes of modern democracy, and presented findings from the Comprehensive Government Reform Survey.

The summit highlighted widespread support for serious reform across the Navajo Nation government, with chapter leaders emphasizing the need for accountability, capacity building, and community-driven decision-making to shape the future of Navajo governance.
