Commmision on Navajo Government Development-
The Commission on Navajo Government Development (CNGD) and the Office of Navajo Government Development (ONGD) were established by Navajo Nation Council Resolution CD-68-89 as part of the 1989 Title 2 restructuring of the Navajo Nation government. CD-68-89 created the Commission as a special entity with quasi-independent authority to lead and advance government reform for an accountable, responsible, and representative Navajo government. Appointments to the Commission are confirmed by the Navajo Nation Council pursuant to Title 2 (e.g., 2 N.N.C. § 970 and § 972(A)(5)). Past Commissioners have contributed significantly to ONGD’s mission by guiding research, public engagement, and proposals that strengthen the Nation’s governmental structure while honoring Diné values.
